LALIQUE is a legend, symbolic of craftsmanship that commands respect and admiration. Over the years, LALIQUE has become more than just a name; it has become a powerful icon of exceptional know-how, a synonym for excellence, and a style characterized by the mastery of contrast. Drawing on its rich cultural and artistic heritage, its timeless and precious qualities, the brand preserves the energy and insouciance of its heyday while adapting to modern-day tastes.
Today, LALIQUE has entered a new phase of development and modernization. As a result, Silvio Denz, Chairman and C.E.O. of LALIQUE, has decided to make the unique skills of LALIQUE's crystal makers available to contemporary designers, while keeping the greatest admiration and respect for René Lalique’s work and his tremendous creative spirit. Opening this crystal glasswork to new artists allows its exceptional know-how to be interpreted with new eyes and with a fresh creative inspiration.
As part of this new initiative, Mr. Denz asked Zaha Hadid to design the Crystal Architecture collection. It is composed of two vases: their innate fluid lines which seem to have a life of their own superbly highlighted by clear or black crystal. Enhancing the overall effect are those contrasting satin and polished finishes that are the epitome of LALIQUE. This collection was born of a passion for beauty, the search for excellence, and the will to combine the expertise of LALIQUE's master glassmakers with the great creativity and rare talent of a world-famous architect and designer. Through these exceptional masterpieces in a signed and numbered edition, LALIQUE presents a fresh approach to its material, a new formal vocabulary, a new vision.

Korean sculptor and prolific artist, Wook Jang Cheung, opens "Long Journey Home" at The Shops at Crystals!
Korea’s nationally prominent sculptor Wook Jang Cheung dreams big. His sculptures of elephants, polar bears and deer, which will be on display in his Las Vegas show at The Shops at Crystals, stand more than nine feet tall. Wook’s elongated figures stand on fantastically statuesque legs that seem to have been inspired by an incredible, surrealistic dreamscape as much as the animals themselves.
“Statues stand, I want my work to be in motion, to connote the journey. These figures gaze out at an unseen destination that is beyond our horizon,” said Wook Jang Cheung.
"Cheung's expansion of form is fluid and elegant. The stainless steel pieces represent strength and endurance. ‘The Long Journey’ easily resonates in each of us, at any time and any given place, as we all yearn to reach a destination," said Henkel. “For the artist, the variety in forms ultimately represent life as a metaphor. The road is a representative model. Cheung opens up the road to life through his sculptures. Just as the way journeys do to us, roads, too, can lead us to a model of life.”
The exhibit will be on display until October 13th on the first level of The Shops at Crystals.
Opening this June, a new installation by internationally acclaimed artist James Turrell will debut at The Shops at Crystals. The ‘James Turrell Installation at Crystals’ is the latest addition to the CityCenter Fine Art Collection, the first major permanent collection in Las Vegas integrated into a public space.
Central to the project is the transformation of the monorail station where light will immerse the space with color, in coordination with the arrival and departure of each train. In response to the unique architecture of the Daniel Libeskind-designed building, Turrell created a new visual experience for guests of the luxury fashion center. The installation will feature works that can be experienced from multiple vantage points – seen from afar as subtly changing planes of color or from within an area flooded with light.
“This installation continues the commitment of CityCenter to bring the most important artists and artworks to Las Vegas,” notes Jim Murren, chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International. “James Turrell will create a visual experience never before seen, embodying the wonder of Las Vegas.”
The commission for Crystals incorporates many of the series from the extensive oeuvre Turrell has developed over the last four decades including Space Division, Wide Glass, and Shallow Space Construction. An artist whose works play with perception and the effect of light within a created space, Turrell believes human perception to be his true medium; in his words, “My art is about your seeing.”
Crystals will unveil the installation and monorail station on the occasion of four concurrent exhibitions of Turrell’s work at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; and Kayne Griffin Corcoran in Los Angeles.
In addition to exhibiting at the world’s foremost museums and galleries, James Turrell is the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship as well as a Guggenheim Fellowship, The University of Virginia’s Jefferson Medal for Architecture, a National Endowment for the Arts, Frankfurt’s Friedrich Prize and France awarded him its highest honor for the arts, making him a Commandeur de L’Order des Arts et des Letters.
Since 2009, CityCenter has dedicated considerable resources to cultivate an unparalleled corporate art collection. The CityCenter Fine Art Collection features works by acclaimed artists, sculptors, and visionaries including Antony Gormley, Jenny Holzer, Maya Lin, Richard Long, Henry Moore, Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, Nancy Rubins, and Frank Stella among others.
Richard MacDonald has always been an artist who soaks up the experiences of everyday life through intense observation, and then transform that raw material into works of art that reflect internal states of being, not simply the physical. The Contemporary Nude Spires is a newly released series of sculptures that takes the artist a step further along the path of re-envisioning the role of the figure in contemporary art. Contemporary both in style and concept, the self-contained nature of the individual figures makes a statement about independence and strength: elements Richard MacDonald never overlooks in his understanding of the female identity. This series highlights an interesting paradox: they work as purely abstract shapes, while being completely figurative and representative in nature.
For the past three decades Richard MacDonald has been making an important and unique contribution to contemporary sculpture. In the course of his career he has gathered a broad following of dedicated and enthusiastic collectors, and garnered many prestigious awards, honors, and significant public commissions across the globe. His body of work stands apart as distinctive and unique.
We invite you to visit The Art of Richard MacDonald Fine Art Gallery at Gallery Row to view this and other exciting new works by Richard MacDonald.
