While Drake’s dance moves from the video “Hotline Bling” have gotten the majority of the press, it’s the background that piqued other’s interest. The minimalist frames bathed in intense light are reminiscent of an artist quite familiar to The Shops at Crystals – James Turrell. The artist, famed for his use of light and space to alter the mind, has two installations at Crystals, “Shards of Light” on the third floor and “Akhob” situation inside Louis Vuitton.
While it was rumored that Turrell actually worked on the video with the rapper, he issued a statement stating that while he was flattered “… neither I nor any of my woes was involved in any way in the making of the Hotline Bling video.” Seems Turrell might know a thing or two about Drake as well.
