Tribal Prints for Summer

This summer take advice from the late great Lou Reed and walk on the wild side – in some totally tribal patterns. From Valentino’s ethnic prints to Donna Karan’s urban chic, tribal motifs are filling up the boutiques at The Shops at Crystals.

Whether you are lounging by Mandarin Oriental’s pool in a statement making Donna Karan tribal cover up, dancing the night away at Haze Nightclub in a sexy blue, black and red short Valentino dress, or grabbing a quick bite to eat pairing your favorite classic blue jeans with Roberto Cavalli’s black and white tribal sandals – the international print influence will definitely have you turning heads in city ready looks with a tribal twist!

5 Questions With...

At the Nanette Lepore Summer Styling & Champagne event within their boutique, we were able to sneak Ms. Nanette Lepore herself away for 5 minutes and ask her all about her Fall 2014 collection, what her favorite things to do in Las Vegas are and of course... gambling?

Q 1. What should we expect to see from your Fall 2014 collection?

Luxury. Like luxurious pieces in beautiful deep colors. There are beautiful merlot colored furs and fun parkas of fur with crazy fluffy fur collars but there’s wonderful prints. There are lots of maul berry and orchid and rich red plums against your classic camels and greys – some really pretty pieces. There are some asymmetrical hems and lace.

Q 2. What was the inspiration for your Fall/Winter 2014 collection?

The whole inspiration for fall was all about hand craft work and crafting things in New York City but taking some of my favorite inspirations from around the world and bringing them back to New York and (like) putting them back together. There are some really fun prints that look like weavings and beautiful beadwork that’s like a patch work of different inspirations.

Q 3. How does this Fall collection differ from previous collections?

The previous fall I had gone to Mars, which I really enjoyed,  and we had those fun hologram shoes and bags and it was super edgy and modern. This fall was a little bit more feminine and softer but still a modern feel to the femininity. It’s all about women wanting to feel really modern right now and very cutting edge and nobody wants to feel like they are throwbacks. You got to give them the things that feel familiar and people want and love but with a new spin.

Q 4. What is your favorite thing to do here in Vegas?

SHOP. Honestly, shop and then eat and then hit the slots! Yes, slots, I am big on the slots… I am afraid of the tables , I won’t go near them. My husband actually hits big on the slots all of the time. He is hysterical to gamble with because he will be the guy that walks over and puts in like a buck and wins a $1,000. And everyone is like, “Are you kidding? Did you just do that?!?”

Q 5. How does The Shops at Crystals compare to other shopping centers around the country?

Well, first of all, I am traveling with two women who work for my company and one has never been here before and she wants to move to Las Vegas right now and work in the store.  I mean, it’s – when we moved in I remember they challenged us and said this is going to be a really new shopping center. Everything has to be extra special and really different and really elevated and I remember we were all like, “Oh my god!” we have to do something really extreme and fabulous and I think we really achieved it. So, I am happy with the angelic colors, and the way you flow in to the store and it has different corridors and it feels like you are discovering something and I think that is what a store should bring to people.

A Lifetime of Brilliance

A couple’s commitment is sealed from the very moment an engagement ring is slipped onto a woman’s finger.  In that instant, they are connected by a profound new bond, and share with the world a powerful expression of their love. Only an extraordinary ring is worthy of such a moment, and only Tiffany—maker of the most beautiful rings on earth—can create a ring with such a rich heritage.

Tiffany introduced the engagement ring as we know it today. The Tiffany® Setting debuted in 1886. Its six-prong design elevated the round brilliant diamond to disperse light with unprecedented brilliance. It quickly became, and continues to be, the world’s preeminent engagement ring. With a history of creating important jewels for more than 175 years, Tiffany artisans are uncompromising in their devotion to the jeweler’s art. Their rigorous standards honor the house’s legacy, as well as the couples who entrust Tiffany to produce an emblem of enduring love.

When a couple first chooses an engagement ring, it is just the beginning of the journey of a lifetime. With that journey in mind, Tiffany crafts rings that become part of a personal heritage that lasts for generations. Like the profound emotions it represents, a Tiffany engagement ring will never fade with the passage of time. It is unaffected by the shifting tides of trend and fashion, and remains an unfailing symbol of their future together. It is a promise supported by the lifetime guarantee that accompanies every Tiffany Diamond Certificate.

Tiffany diamonds are icons of unsurpassed beauty and enduring fascination. The house stresses standards that begin—but don’t end—with the 4Cs, four factors typically used to assess a stone. The laboratory’s master diamond graders give individual grades for cut, color, clarity, carat weight and presence. In the process, other diamond reports are frequently overruled. The jeweler accepts only .02 percent of gem-quality stones, which are graded at the Tiffany Gemological Laboratory, one of few such facilities operated by jewelry retailers.

Wedding bands complete the circle, uniting a couple at the ultimate celebration of their romance. Tiffany wedding bands complement engagement rings and yet stand alone as elegant pieces in their own right. Tiffany rings are at the heart of the world’s greatest love stories. When combined, legendary craftsmanship and genuine emotion create a special alchemy that makes the Tiffany ring more beautiful and more desired than any other.
