The Art of Richard MacDonald presented by Cirque du Soleil is pleased to present "Magical Energies," an exhibition featuring new and extraordinary works by world-renowned artist Richard MacDonald. The gallery will host an artist reception on Sunday, October 28 at Crystals Gallery Row from 1 - 5 p.m. We invite you to visit the gallery and experience a collection of never seen before works with sculptor Richard MacDonald.
Richard MacDonald emerged from a century that avoided the realistic depiction of the human form, by synthesizing modernist principles with the timeless human desire to understand ourselves. To paraphrase Picasso: there is no such thing as “abstract” art; everything starts from what is known. Richard MacDonald is one of the few post-modern figurative sculptors to go back to this essential truth, and create imaginative metaphors of the human psyche through representation of the body As the artist behind the creation of monumental sculptures for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, and the 100th U.S. Open in 2000, Richard MacDonald is the first and only artist to have been given exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the famous Cirque du Soleil. “The most important aspect of my work is capturing the soul and life of the human spirit,” said Richard MacDonald. “Through my art work, I hope to increase the appreciation and understanding of figurative sculpture throughout the U.S. and around the world."
